About Matminne and meal planning

  • What is Matminne?
Matminne is a Swedish meal planning app that helps you plan your weekly meals, build grocery lists automatically, keep track of your pantry and follow your nutrition — all in one place. It works for the whole household and is works in your browser today, with iPhone and Android apps on the way. See all features.
  • How do I create a weekly meal plan in Matminne?
Pick dishes for the week yourself, or let Matminne suggest them based on what you like and what you have at home. Swap what you don't fancy and lock what you want to keep. When you're happy, the week's dishes become a shopping list of what's missing.
  • Can I share meal plans with my family?
Yes. You create a household in the app and invite family members by email. Everyone in the household sees the same meal plans, grocery lists and recipes in real time — whether they use iPhone, Android or the web. One subscription covers the entire household, with no extra cost per person.

Shopping lists and pantry

  • How does Matminne build grocery lists automatically?
Once you've picked the week's dishes, Matminne combines every ingredient, grouped by category and totalled. What you already have in the pantry is subtracted, so the list only holds what you need to buy. You can add your own items too.
  • What is shopping mode and how does it work?
Shopping mode is a full-screen view designed for one-handed use in the store. You see one large card per item and swipe to check it off. The list learns how you shop by remembering the order you check items off — next time it's sorted to match your route through the store. Read more about smart grocery lists.
  • Can I order groceries online through Matminne?
Yes. Send your shopping list straight to ICA, Coop or MatHem and get your groceries delivered. You choose whether to shop in the store or order home.
  • Do we have to enter everything we have at home?
No. Take a photo of the fridge, freezer or pantry with the mobile app and the items are added in one go, or tick common staples off a ready-made list. After that it looks after itself: what you tick off in the store goes into the pantry, what you cook is counted down, and best-before dates are estimated automatically, even without a date.
  • How does Matminne know what we usually buy?
Matminne learns how often you buy things. When the toilet paper, coffee or milk usually runs out, it shows up as a suggestion on the shopping list: one tap and it's on. The longer you use Matminne, the less you have to remember yourselves.

Recipes, nutrition and barcodes

  • Can I add my own recipes?
Yes. Create recipes with ingredients, steps and a photo. Enter accurate amounts and units, and Matminne calculates nutrition values automatically and keeps grocery lists exact. Your recipes are private to your household by default — you can choose to share them with other users if you'd like.
  • How does nutrition tracking work in Matminne?
Matminne automatically calculates calories, protein, carbs and fat based on the ingredients in your recipes. Set personal daily targets and follow your intake with macro rings that show how you're tracking. Log meals straight from your weekly plan, or add individual items.
  • Can I scan barcodes to add groceries?
Yes. Scan a barcode with your camera and Matminne pulls in the name, nutrition values and product image automatically. Add the item to your pantry or grocery list in seconds — perfect for quickly logging what you have at home.

Pricing, account and subscription

  • How much does Matminne cost and is there a free trial?
Completely free during the beta. When the beta ends, everyone, beta testers and new users alike, gets 60 days free. After that it's 59 SEK/month or 399 SEK/year (33 SEK/month). The subscription covers the whole household, every member included at no extra cost. Beta testers also get a discounted price when we launch. See pricing or join the beta.
  • What does the beta mean?
Matminne is in beta: everything works and is used every day, but we're still polishing. During the beta it's completely free, you get the mobile apps before they're released, and your feedback shapes what we build next. Apply for the beta.
  • Can I cancel my Matminne subscription?
Yes — you can cancel any time, with no lock-in. You keep full access to every feature until the end of your billing period. No hidden fees, no cancellation fees.
  • Is Matminne available on iPhone, Android and desktop?
The web app at app.matminne.se works on every device today, and the iPhone and Android apps are coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Your account syncs automatically across every device — plan your week on the laptop and shop with your phone in the store. Download Matminne.
  • How do I delete my account and my data?
You can delete your account under Settings > Account > Delete account. Your personal data — nutrition tracking, body measurements and preferences — is permanently removed. Recipes, meal plans and grocery lists belong to the household and remain as long as other members exist. If you're the only member, the household's data is deleted as well.

Comparisons and alternatives

  • How is Matminne different from Lifesum?
Lifesum focuses on calorie counting and individual nutrition tracking. Matminne does that too, but goes further with full weekly meal planning, automatic grocery lists, in-store shopping mode, pantry management and full household sharing. If you want a complete solution from planning to cooking — not just calorie counting — Matminne is built for it.
  • Is Matminne an alternative to MyFitnessPal?
MyFitnessPal is primarily a calorie counter and food diary. Matminne includes nutrition tracking with macro rings, but goes further with weekly planning, recipe management, automatic grocery lists and household sharing. You can plan the whole week's food and get nutrition values calculated automatically — instead of manually logging every meal after the fact.
  • Is Matminne an alternative to meal kit services?
Yes. Meal kit services like HelloFresh give you pre-selected recipes and ingredients — convenient but expensive and inflexible. With Matminne you choose what to cook, buy ingredients at a price you decide, and either order online or shop in-store. You keep the freedom and save money.
  • Can Matminne replace several apps?
Yes. Matminne combines features that usually require separate apps: meal planning, grocery lists, recipe collection, nutrition tracking, pantry management and body measurements. Instead of one app for recipes, one for calories and one for grocery lists — you get everything in Matminne.
